The season finished strong for many of our goalies.  Several won championships at the youth and junior levels and several attained league all-star status.  Below are a few who attained great success this season.

College

Casey Tuttle of Elmira college was named to the Div 3 All-American team.  Casey is one of the hardest workers I have ever met.  He backstopped his Elmira teammates the the Div 3 Frozen Four.

John Hallas started for Saint Lawrence  University this year and recently signed with Mississippi of the ECHL.

Jon Tuttle of Franklin Pierce University was named NE-10 player of the week after solid wins against Worcester State and earned the right to start the playoff games for FPU.

Skylar Nipps guided Babson into the NCAA playoffs.

Dimitri Papavagaelou finished his career at Hobart and helped the Statesmen achieve a number 10 ranking in the NCAA polls.

Matt Lopes had a great year with Gustavas Adolphus after transferring there and at one point was number 3 in the country in save percentage.

Ryan Simpson has made his comeback from the injuries that plagued him over the last 2 years at Providence.  He started the final playoff game for Providence against BC, and although losing 5-1 is ready to assert himself next season for the Friars along with fellow student Justin Gates who had alot of success this season as well playing for the NH Junior Monarchs.

Brian Foster has done well when called upon at UNH, and is backing up Kevin Regan, but next year the job will be his.

Steve Belle-Isle and Anthony Oliveira faced off against each other as Salve Regina played Worcester State.  They have been friends and trained together for nearly 10 years so this was fitting in Belle-Isle's last game.

Andrea Berlin posted amazing numbers for St A's (.944 save %) as they romped through D3.

Candice Currier committed to the University of Maine for the fall of 2008.  Way to go Candice!! She finished up a great season with NAHA.

Junior Goalie Updates

It was All-star central here for the Goalie Guy's goalies at the Junior Level.  Goalies participated in the following leagues:  Eastern Junior Hockey League (EJHL), Atlantic Junior Hockey League (AJHL), Empire Junior Hockey League, Met Junior Hockey League, and IJHL.

The results were amazing:

Justin Gates and Jim Mello guided the NH Junior Monarchs to the Tier 3 Junior A national title once again.  Gates held off a fierce rush late in the championship game against the NJ Hitmen.  Both finished number 1 and 2 in the EJHL in save percentage.  Both also made the All-star game with Mello posting a shutout and Gates allowing 1 goal.  Mello was named EJHL goalie of the year

Jon Lee also participated in the EJ All-star game and sported a shut-out as well. He helped to guide the Hitmen to the regular season title in the EJHL.

Mike Riley, Nick Broadwater and Dan Ramirez were numbers 1,5,6 respectively in terms of league leaders in the Atlantic league.  Broadwater was named goalie of the year for the AJHL as well.

Jay Aguiar helped the Freeze to the Championship game of the IJHL.  Jay also finished as the top ranked goalie in the league as well.  He also played in the All-star game and posted a shutout.

Connor Shannon led the Empire league in GAA while Nick Therrien finished 12th in the league.

James Petrick and Matt Coronis finished 3rd and 7th in  IJHL Elite division in stats.  Coronis posted a shutout in the All-star game.

Casey Cox finished 3rd in the AEHL in goalie save percentage.

Prep/High School/Youth

Ryan Purdy of Exeter Academy was named First Team Prep All-star and Ben Bradley of Pingree was named 2nd team All-star for Division 2.

Lauren Slebodnick was named as an alternate for the US National Under-18 team. She was the only non 1990 birthdate goalie named.

Tony Dube of Biddeford Maine won the Travis Roy award for the top high school player in Maine while leading Biddeford to another state title.  He was also named first team all-state.

Jimmy Schutt was also named All-state honorable mention in Maine playing for Chevrus.

Tyler Ingerson lead NH D1 goalies in stats and played in the state title game for Bishop Brady.

Justin Lavertue had a great year for Spaulding as they went to the title game.  He was also named first team all-state.
